Lamb asks shepherd... A blog of stories for discipling children of all ages

Am I your lamb?

Yes.

How much do you love me?

Lamb wi twin

All the way to the cross
And back

Why did you go to the cross?

So that you may be with me

Who are you to me?

I am your shepherd.

Am I your lamb?

Yes.

What will you do for your lamb?

I will lead you to green pasture.

What is pasture?

Green fields for lambs to play
Where sheep may feed.

Who else comes there?

Sometimes lion or bear.

O that’s bad.

Yes but I lay down my life for the sheep
Lion and bear are defeated.
But you may have to face them
I also have a city.

Can I go there?

Yes you can come.

How do I find the way?

I will show you. I have written it out.
There, the path is straight.

It looks narrow and scary.

I will be with you.
Do not be afraid little sheep
Today you are a lamb
But I will always be with you
You will grow into a sheep
And you will face trials for my sake
If you love me.

The way is narrow to the kingdom
Where you travel to
But it is straight
My word will guide you.
Ask me and I will help you.

As you learn, sheep, you will grow
Into a shepherd
With your own lambs
Don’t be afraid
I will be closer to you then
You will be full of joy and peace and love
And bring on your own sheep

Remember always
How much I love you
Learn of me
Lean on me
Nothing can you do alone
You can do everything with me
You and your fellows
Will be my bride
In God’s kingdom

How great is our God!

PRAYER

[As you pray, address yourself sincerely and with all your heart to God, as best you can. Best to say out loud, be still, and see if He says anything back to you, or changes the way you feel.]

O shepherd,

I am so glad

To get to know you.

I know that I am safe with you

because you love me

so much

that you gave yourself

for me.

On a cross.

You know danger

and you will save me

all the way

to your place.

I will love you too

From little lamb.

References (from the Bible)

1 Samuel 17 verse 34, 37

David said to [King] Saul,
"Your servant [I] was tending my father's sheep,
when a lion or a bear came
and took a lamb from the flock
I went out after him
and attacked it,
and rescued [the lamb] from its mouth,
and when it rose up [to attack] me,
I seized it by the beard
and struck and killed [the predator].

The Lord delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear..."

Psalm 16 verse 11

You will show me that path of life.
In your presence is fullness of joy.
At your right hand are pleasures for evermore.

Isaiah 53 verse 2-6

He has no stately form or majesty
That we should look upon Him
Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.
He was despised and forsaken of men,
A man of sorrows and [used to sadness];
And like someone from whom people hide their faces
He was despised, and we did not [respect] Him.

Surely our sadness He Himself carried,
Along with our sorrows;
Yet we thought that He was stricken
and struck down by God, and hurt.
But [in fact] He was pierced through for our transgressions [wrong doing/thinking]
He was crushed for our iniquities [badness];
The [training punishment] for our well-being fell upon Him
And by the beating He received, we are healed.

All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.

Matthew 7 verse 13-14
[Jesus is teaching.]

Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the way is broad
that leads to destruction,
and there are many who enter through it.
For the gate is small and the way is narrow that
leads to life,
and there are few who find it.

John 10 verse 11
[Jesus says]
"I am the good shepherd;
the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."

John 14 verse 2
[Jesus is talking to His disciples, shortly before His death.]

In My Father's house are many [lovely] dwelling places [homes],
if it were not so, I would have told you;
for I go to prepare a place for you.

Romans 8 verse 31-32
[Paul is teaching Jesus followers in the early church in Rome.]

If God is for us, who is against us?
He who did not spare His own Son,
but delivered Him over for us all,
how will He not also with Him
freely give us all things?

Galatians 1 verse 3-5 and 2 verse 20

Grace to you and peace from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for our sins
so that He might rescue us
from this present evil age
according to the will of our God and Father

I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave Himself up for me
